Our Story

Book Nook Cafe is Gainesville through and through.

Founder Breton Homewood was born and raised here, in a family deeply connected to the University of Florida, the local community, and small business life in Gainesville. As an adult, he joined the Peace Corps and spent nearly two decades in Paraguay working alongside local communities.

In 2025, Breton came home and started Book Nook Cafe with a simple idea: create something real, local, and unmistakably Gainesville.

Because coffee and tea are more than a daily routine. They become part of your story. The cup you grab on the way to work. The conversation that runs longer than expected. The quiet morning with a good book.

With the right people, the right place, and the right cup, an ordinary moment can feel a little magical.

That’s what Book Nook Cafe is here for.

Local Ingredients

Gainesville, Through and Through

Book Nook Cafe is a Gainesville small business, owned by someone who grew up here and is proud to be part of the community that raised them.

We keep that spirit local in what we serve, too. Our coffee comes from Sweetwater Organic Coffee, roasted right here in Gainesville, and our teas come from A Thousand Leaves Community Apothecary, another Gainesville-grown small business.

Local people. Local partners. Local coffee and tea.
